Apple unveiled what the next update for iOS, iOS 9.3 has in store bringing some new features and some necessary updates to some of its apps.
Apple is introducing a new feature called Night Shift which using your device’s clock and geolocation determines when its sunset in your location and automatically shifts the colours in your display to the warmer end of the spectrum helping you to sleep better. The display will be back to normal in the morning. According to numerous researches, bright blue light in the evening is said to affect your circadian rhythms making it harder to fall asleep.
Notes now allows for private notes to be added. You can now hide specific notes which can be accessed using your fingerprint or a password. You can also sort notes based on date created, date modified or alphabetically.
Apple’s News app will receive an update to its ‘For You’ section providing a more tailored feed based on your particular interests along with trending topics and Editor’s Picks. Stories containing video can now be played directly from the feed rather than accessing that specific content. The update also brings landscape mode for the iPhone giving a wider view. Checking for updates to your feed is now faster as well.
The Health app now gets a new dashboard with categories such as Weight, Workouts and Sleep having a slider menu that reveals other health apps you can add to your Health Dashboard. Furthermore, the app displays move, exercise and stand data apart from your goals from the Apple Watch.
Apple is adding additional new features to CarPlay as part of the update. Apple Music now gets New and For You sections and the Nearby feature in Maps now lets you find gas, parking, restaurants, coffee and more with a simple tap.

iOS 9.3 is also a major update for Apple’s iOS in Education ecosystem. Apple has finally introduced multi-user login enabling every student to have a specific account which can be accessed from any iPad in any classroom personalizing the experience enabling students to pick up from where they left off. Teachers can also launch everyones app at the same time and guide what students are looking at on their devices. The teachers can also see how a student is doing by viewing the students screen using Screen View. Apple School Manager is a central place for admins to create Apple IDs, build courses and access everything with a central control, all from a web browser on Mac or PC.
