Twitter has replaced the icon for favourites in favour of hearts for both its Twitter and Vine platforms. Twitter is calling the heart icon ‘Likes’. The move comes as part of Twitter’s plan to simplify its interface for users, especially newcomers.
“You might like a lot of things, but not everything can be your favourite.” wrote Twitter on its announcement reflecting the new change, “The heart, in contrast, is a universal symbol that resonates across languages, cultures, and time zones. The heart is more expressive, enabling you to convey a range of emotions and easily connect with people. And in our tests, we found that people loved it.”

Hearts was already part of the Twitter family on Periscope but Twitter is now extending that to its own platform and Vine.
Twitter announced that starting today, the change can be seen across its platform such as Twitter app for iOS and Android, Twitter.com, TweetDeck, Twitter for Windows 10, Tweets across the internet and the Vine Android app and website.
Twitter for Mac and Vine for iOS will be updated soon with the change.
