HTC announced it’s latest smartphone called the One A9. You don’t need to be an expert in technology to notice that it looks straight up like Apple’s iPhone 6 and 6S phones. Despite the fact that both smartphones look ridiculously similar, HTC claims that it is Apple that copied the unibody design from them.

The point that HTC is trying to make is that Apple first copied their antenna design on the HTC One M7 and M8 from them which is true but its important to note that Apple made the iPhone with a completely different design to the point where when the iPhone 6 and 6S were launched, people didn’t mistake it for looking like HTC’s M7 or M8. While the same cannot be said about the new A9.

“We’re not copying. We made a unibody metal-clad phone in 2013 [the year the M7 was released],” HTC’s North Asia President Jack Tong said addressing claims that the A9 looks very similar to the iPhone “It’s Apple that copies us in terms of the antenna design on the back.”

Further HTC advertises the A9’s design as a “Design worth imitating” on its official website.

Apple is known for making sure that its designs are not copied and will go to extreme lengths to keep them protected. Apple however have still not commented on this issue.
